It was dark as night outside, though the sun had risen just two hours before. Ted and Ross pulled off into a McDonalds parking lot to call the golf course and see if the tournament had been cancelled. Ross asked if he could have a breakfast sandwich, and his father said no, that was not a possibility. Ross had spent the last two weeks mentally readying himself for this qualifying tournament, and had begun to think that he was actually looking forward to it. But as soon as the possibility of cancellation or postponement presented itself, he looked hungrily towards the large and low storm clouds rolling in from the Northwest. Maybe they wouldn’t even reschedule it. Maybe he and his father could just go to a diner somewhere for breakfast, and then go home and watch professional golf on TV.
